Need For Speed: ProStreet announced

Wrooom wrooom. EA has announced the next game in the Need For Speed series. The new game is a street-racing based adventure game and is called ProStreet. It will hit Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii, DS, PS2, PSP and mobiles this autumn.

Canada-based EA Black Box is developing it and the franchise will yet again be rubbing shoulders with the underground racing world. The developers promise that the graphics have undergone an overhaul and look literally jaw-dropping. Every crash and bump will leave scratches on your car - which is fully customizable. There will also be "a revolutionary online mode that will redefine the meaning of competitive social play".

Larry LaPierre, execute producer of the game, says:

"Need for Speed ProStreet accelerates street racing culture by providing the ultimate stage for the pursuit of supremacy. This is a game about building the ultimate performance-tuned battle machine, taking it to multi-disciplinary showdowns all over the world and pitting your skills and reputation against the very best street racers."

Now we just have to wait.

LEGO Star Wars gets complete saga

Yeah! The smartest Danish invention ever returns for yet another Star Wars adventure. In celebration of 30 years of Star Wars Activision has planned to release another LEGO video game. The game is called The Complete Saga and will feature bits from all six films. It will be released on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS this November.

Traveller's Tales is developing the game, which it claims will be the biggest and most expansive in the series. More than 160 characters will be available and new levels will be introduced. The biggest addition is said to be two-player jump-in co-operative gameplay through Xbox Live and PS3 Online. A very promising feature.

I just can't wait. I love LEGO! Don't we all?

Knoxville hopes Jackass video game is crappy

The latest we've seen from the crazy people on MTV's Jackass is the feature movie entitled Number Two, which can be bought on DVD. My advise is of course that you buy it. There's both painful and very funny stunts involved this time around. Entertainment at its best.

The show is also made into a video game for DS, PS2 and PSP - with Empire Interactive as the publisher and Sidhe developing. The game is said to have 35 insane mini-games with some of the show's biggest stars, including Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Bam Margera, Wee-Man etc.

Some of the mini-games are based on stunts from the TV show while others are based on ideas that the crew has had but hasn't made it happen in real life. Knoxville is quoted this week for saying: "We just hope that our video game is as crappy as our movies."

Well, the chances for that are high!

Lots of stars on FIFA 08 cover

There are things in life that are just inevitable. FIFA 08 is one those things. The guys at EA Sports have of course been working (hard) on another installment of their world football game - it is scheduled for release later in 2007.

Now they have announced what stars we can expect on the cover. Ronaldinho is of course present on sort of every single national version of the game, but he has to share the spotlight with local stars. Who said stars? Who the f*** are Andreas Ivanschitz (Panathinaikos FC) and Tranquillo Barnetta (Bayer Leverkusen), representing Austria and Switzerland?

The other announced players are Miroslav Klose (Werder Bremen) on the German sleeve, Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) on the Spanish cover of FIFA 08 and Frank Ribery (Marseille) will join Ronaldinho for the French version.

My question is of course: Who is going to represent the English and Danish versions of the game? I hope Daniel Agger is the Danish star - even though his club Liverpool ran out of steam last night in the Champions League final. He's indeed a great player! My guess for the UK version is not surprisingly Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.

EA Sports will bring FIFA on the PS3 and the Wii for the first time, EA confirmed today. FIFA 07 launched on the PC, Xbox 360, PS2, PSP, DS, Xbox and GameCube, and it is expected that FIFA 08 is released on the same platforms except GameCube and Xbox.

The game will be available in fall. The stars on the cover are expected to be announced tomorrow. I'll let you know when that happens.

Spore delayed until 2008!

Oh no. Crap. EA has revealed that the highly anticipated Spore from the developer of The Sims is now scheduled for release around March 2008 instead of sometime in 2007. On its conference call script EA said,

"We continue to have enormous confidence in Spore as a franchise - but have made the call not to include this title in our fiscal year financial plan."

Spore is currently being developed for PC and Nintendo DS.

Mysterious Spider-Man 3 website

A adress to a website in the back of the Spider-Man 3 game manual leads to an Activision website! contains details of a game called Spider-Man: Friend or Foe. The website reveals that the game is scheduled for release this autumn and appears to be based on the Spider-Man movie universe.

Activision has no comments to the website - at least not for now. Nonetheless it is possible to sign up for more information.

New Simpsons game announced

EA has announced The Simpsons Game due to be out on PS3, PS2, Xbox 360, PSP, Wii and Nintendo DS in autumn this year. According to the developers the game is an action-comedy and will see Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa as playable characters.

Executive producer Scot Amos says,

"Our goal in developing The Simpsons Game is to create the most original game ever, which is a lofty goal and only possible given the close collaboration with 'The Simpsons' creative team. We're also especially proud of the game's warm visual feel, which captures - for the first time ever in a game - the look of the TV show."

Can you hear that? Listen. Yeah, it's the words 'mediocre crap' creeping into your brain. Eeew. But as always we have to hope the best.

Give me my money back!

The Spider-Man 3 video game feels both rushed and tedious. I've played the game a couple of hours, and while swinging through Manhattan is quite fun, the camera and gameplay are frustrating. Even on Xbox 360 the graphics have some glitches and frame-rate issues.

The movie is great, the game is a disappointment. Spider-Man 3 is for hardcore fans only!
